Tell us a bit about yourself. Why are you a wine geek?
I teach about wine, have a wine shop, I am a permanent wine student and basically think about wine every single day. I am also a Master of Wine candidate, so wine geeking all day is what I do.

Extraterrestrials just landed on earth. What wine do you pour them?
I would pour the worst wine in the world, made with vitis labrusca with a foxy note, so they would think it was not worth staying here and would go back to their sad wine-less planet.

What's your favorite scent you have ever smelled in a wine?
The scent of happiness?? Can be only found in really good wine, just swirl the glass and smell it.

Any favorite music or podcasts you like to listen to while you drink wine?
Podcasts: I’ll Drink to That, Guildsomm Podcast, The Inside Winemaking Podcast, Wine Uncorked. I hosted a fun and educational Podcast years ago (in Portuguese) and love the media.

If you could visit any wine region in the world right now what would it be any why?
Tough question. Would board a plane to Frankfurt and start a month-long visit of European wine regions. I also want to visit regions that I haver never been to: Southern England, Sicily, Hungary.

What do you think is the most exciting thing going in the world of wine right now?
Diversity. The wine industry is finally showing some changes and I am happy to see more diverse people sharing their voices. Exciting times!

What would you like to see in the future of wine?
Transparency from producers, more diversity of people in all sides of the industry, and less market-driven labels (like the "less calories", "clean wine")

What advice would you give yourself looking back to when you first started working in the wine industry?
Be patient.

Who are some people that inspire you in the world of wine?
Mary Ewing-Mulligan MW, the first female American MW, Eric Hemer MS MW, Nick Jackson MW, Laura de Pasquale MS, and many others in the industry.

Anything in the works you'd like to mention or promote?
Yes, really happy to share that we open a new brick & mortar wine shop in South Miami, 305 Wines. So now people can take courses at Florida Wine Academy and shop wines at 305wines.com @305wines @floridawineacademy
